The Bulgarian labor code can be considered traditionalist with wide protection for the employees. Hiring an employee is an easy process but comes with some administrative work, i.e. declaring labor contracts at the National revenue agency.
Dismissing or firing an employee is more complicated. Unless mutual agreement is reached the company needs a reason to release an employee. The prerequisites for labor agreement termination are listed in the Bulgarian labor act, where additional protection is presented to mothers and disabled employees.
The employer pays social security contributions for each employee in the company on a monthly basis. Employees in Bulgaria are entitled to a 20 day paid annual leave.
